I am a stenographer, working from home in beautiful rural Wiltshire. SubText Live Captioning specialises in remote realtime transcription, capturing the spoken word and streaming realtime verbatim text live over the internet.
I began my career as a court reporter in London in 1996, working in the Royal Courts of Justice and the Old Bailey. I now provide live remote captioning (speech-to-text) for conference calls, meetings, lectures, webcasts, conferences – any setting where high quality audio is available via Zoom or other online platforms – as well as delivering more traditional fast turnaround transcription services in the legal field and beyond.
One of the most interesting areas of my work has been providing live captions on tablets during guided tours of museums and galleries for Stagetext, a charity which provides captioning and live subtitling services to theatres and other arts venues to make their activities accessible to people who are deaf, deafened or hard of hearing.
I also output live TV subtitles for current affairs and live sports programmes.
